Safety Features

Handrail Entry Guard

This device is fitted at the entry of the handrail to prevent any injuries caused due to any objects, especially children's fingers being pulled into the handrail gaps. The contacts of this device break under the action of thrust and will disconnect the power bringing the escalator to a standstill. 

Emergency Stop Button

Emergency stop button is provided at the entry and exit to the handrails of the escalator. Its function is to disconnect the power shutdown the escalator in case of any emergencies.   

Broken Step Chain Safety Device 

Although the strength of the step chains are fully tested we still take into account that a device can malfunction, therefore should a chain unexpectedly break or stretch, the escalator will immediately come to a standstill.  

Comb Plate Safety Device 

The contacts of the comb plate are located on the back of the comb plate. If there are any foreign objects jammed in it, the comb plate will move horizontally and vertically, when this happens, the power will be disconnected and the escalator will come to a standstill and shut down. 

Step Sagging Detector

Breaking of the escalator steps is very dangerous. So lower limit contacts for the steps are provided in the truss. When a step sags by 3mm, the contacts will make and immediately trip bringing the escalator to a standstill. 

Abnormal Step Detector

If any step is loose or not in line, the escalator will stop immediately after trying to run.  

Power Protection Device 

Phase monitor is installed to prevent reverse phasing. The escalator can still operate normally when the voltage or frequency fluctuates.  

Over Speed Protection Device 

The escalator will stop immediately if running speed is over or below its rated speed.  

Electromagnetic Brake

It will stop the operation of the escalator quickly and with a steady slow down in case of any motor faults.  

Protection device for unintentional reversal of the travel direction 

This function is to prevent the escalator running in the different direction from its current travel direction.   

Broken Drive-chain Safety Device

This function is to disconnect the power, stop the escalator in case the drive chain breaks or stretches.
