The early 1990’s saw the advent of the energy efficient lift–systems. VVVF (Variable Voltage Variable Frequency) technology has evolved from this beginning and advanced to sophisticated systems capable of performing a myriad of functions. The VVVF Drive controllers ensure superior ride quality as well as ensuring that the levels remain constant during all load conditions, to within 0-2mm.

In the late 90’s the development of M.R.L. (Motor-room less) lifts was a new elevator concept that requires NO MACHINE ROOM. All the equipment is contained within the shaft structure. As no motor room is required, savings are also achieved by omitting motor room fans, distribution boards, motor room lights, and the general finishing of work required in conventional plant rooms. The lift shaft sizes for the MRL concept are much smaller than the conventional elevator both in shaft width/depth and pit/headroom dimensions. This fact alone gives substantial financial benefits. The MRL concept is based on an AC geared or gearless machine located in the lift shaft, which is controlled by a VVVF speed control drive, which ensures exceptional riding characteristics and superior levelling. The MRL concept is fully approved by the S.A. Inspection authorities and is presently being supplied in a number of buildings throughout the Republic.

This potential drew attention to some innovative products. This product group, classified as Eco lifts, allows efficient access to sophisticated technology at very competitive prices.

• Passenger Lifts
  
  These lifts are ideally suited for low rise buildings 2 - 10 floors. The NZJ 101 is an economical lift very basic no frills but does the job of moving people well.
• Bed / Stretcher lifts
  
  These lifts are ideally suited for Hospitals, clinics and buildings with more than 4 floors, as the building code stipulates that one lift has to be a stretcher lift. The NBJ 102 is the standard Bed lift.
• Goods / Passenger lifts
  
  These lifts are goods / passenger for all type of buildings ( Factories, Warehouse's, Office Blocks, Apartments etc...) to carry goods, they are robust with no frills.
• MRL Lifts
  
  These lifts are good for all types of buildings. Architects are particularly fond of this type of lifts, as they don't require a machine room which is aesthetically pleasing for the building and cost effective.
• Observation Lifts
  
  These lifts are ideally suited for low rise buildings 2 - 10 floors. The lifts inside panels are full glass and the landing doors can also be in full glass panels. On the bottom panels of the cabin on the outside, we can have your company logo fitted.
• Panoramic Lifts
  
  These lifts are ideal for hotels or when you want to make a statement. The lifts can be made in full stainless steel, or in any colour from our standard range.
• Commercial Lifts
  
  These lifts are ideally suited for High Rise office buildings with multi-group systems 15 + floors.
• Residential Lifts
  
  These lifts are not only suited to be used in a house, but can also be installed in a building that does not have lifts, as we can supply an aluminium or steel shaft with the lifts.

• Modernisations
  
  United Elevators products are universally maintainable. Diagnostics shall be built in. A proprietary tool shall not be required for adjustment or maintenance, parts shall be available for inventory not just exchange. Technical training, engineering and technical support will be available, drawings shall be provided. The control manufacturer shall provide direct support to the “end user” and their designated maintenance company.
