United Elevators (Pty) Ltd was formed in 1997 by our current Directors as they found a need to offer you, the customer, the opportunity to have an alternative to the high cost of services and products provided by other competitors and the knowledge of having a company that understands your needs.

Our Directors come from various “Multi National Lift Manufacturers”. Their expertise and experience goes without question in the lifting industry. As “Owners” they ensure that United Elevators only maintain elevators that we are capable of managing and this is what has set United Elevators apart from other service providers.

In the humble beginning we had 10 lifts and operated from a small 10m² office at 62 Juta Street Braamfontein, Gauteng. We grew at such a phenomenal rate that we had to move to a building at 47 Juta Street Braamfontein, which we purchased in 2000. In 2006 we purchased a warehouse in Sabenza of just over 2000m².

An annual turnover of R75, 000.00 in 1998 to just over R30, 000, 000.00 in 2009, we have grown to become the Largest Independent Elevator Company in South Africa.

In 2005 we found the need to train apprentices, so we registered our company with MERSETA (Manufacturing Engineering And Related Services Skilled Education Training Authority) and we now train some of the finest apprentices in the industry. Our apprentices have been gaining unprecedented knowledge by working with some of the finest field engineers and technicians the elevator industry has to offer.

In 2006 United Elevators was awarded the prestigious and acclaimed award by Siemens South Africa for the BEST SOLUTION ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT MANUFACTURER IN SOUTH AFRICA – this was for the development of a Siemens product to be used on Elevators.

In 2007 United Elevators recognised the need for customers to purchase affordable lifting solutions with reliability as its main core.

After visiting and investigating various international lift manufacturers, United Elevators finally found the company that met all our stringent requirements to provide a reliable product.

In the lifting industry the main core of business is service! The less callouts we attend to produces two critical aspects, a satisfied customer and financial benefits for us. Xinda Group (HOSTING), with its brand name of Lifts and Escalators, was finally chosen.

Xinda Group (HOSTING), with it’s rapid evolution of technology has brought dynamic products to our customers. As you know Elevators and Escalators have become the enabling backbone for the developer and end-user.

Xinda Group is a global provider of Elevators, Escalators, Passenger Conveyors, Bed Lifts, M.R.L. (Motor-room less Lifts), Goods Lifts, Commercial Lifts, Passenger Lifts and Observation lifts. These solutions automate and optimise an organisation’s interactions with it’s customers. By employing advanced technological lifting equipment, Xinda is creating and managing profitable customer relationships. (Let’s just imagine a shopping centre without elevators or escalators?)

The early 1990’s saw the advent of the energy efficient lift–systems. VVVF (Variable Voltage Variable Frequency) technology has evolved from this beginning and advanced to sophisticated systems capable of performing a myriad of functions. The VVVF Drive controllers ensure superior ride quality as well as ensuring that the levels remain constant during all load conditions, to within 0-2mm.

In the late 90’s the development of M.R.L. (Motor-room less) lifts was a new elevator concept that requires NO MACHINE ROOM. All the equipment is contained within the shaft structure. As no motor room is required, savings are also achieved by omitting motor room fans, distribution boards, motor room lights, and the general finishing of work required in conventional plant rooms. The lift shaft sizes for the MRL concept are much smaller than the conventional elevator both in shaft width/depth and pit/headroom dimensions. This fact alone gives substantial financial benefits. The MRL concept is based on an AC geared or gearless machine located in the lift shaft, which is controlled by a VVVF speed control drive, which ensures exceptional riding characteristics and superior levelling. The MRL concept is fully approved by the S.A. Inspection authorities and is presently being supplied in a number of buildings throughout the Republic.

This potential drew attention to some innovative products. This product group, classified as Eco lifts, allows efficient access to sophisticated technology at very competitive prices.

The Xinda Group is well entrenched in providing the full spread of elevator and escalator solutions and the combination of skills and expertise strengthens United Elevators position to meet the growing demand and change in requirements in the marketplace.
